Since then, our family has dedicated itself to crafting exceptional wines that have become synonymous with excellence in the Australian wine industry. Our journey began with the production of fortified wines, sold door-to-door with a hawker’s license. Over time, we have grown and nurtured vineyards across South Australia, cultivating over 300 hectares of land to create some of Barossa’s most prestigious and celebrated premium wines.
Each generation has lovingly passed down the heart and soul of our craft, and today, Trent and Amelia Burge carry forward this tradition with a passion for winemaking that spans over 150 years and a determination to create something extraordinary for the generations to come.
We do more than make great wine, we put our heart and soul into it.
Corryton Burge is named for Corryton Park Homestead, the heart and soul of our family. Set amongst gentle hills in Eden Valley, it is guarded by a pair of proud griffins. These fabled creatures, now featured on our wine labels, are said to protect precious possessions.
Today Corryton Park Homestead is where our family comes together. Family weddings and milestone birthdays have been celebrated, along with many a casual gathering with friends over good food and wine. This home, with its spirit of family and friendship, embodies the heart and soul of Corryton Burge wines.
In 1869, the estate passed into the hands of William Rounsevell Sr., a highly successful entrepreneur in the horse coaching business. Rounsevell chose to christen it as Corryton Park, and ultimately passed the property onto his son, John Rounsevell, in 1874.
Fast forward to 1999, and a new chapter in the Corryton Park story begins. Our father Grant, having fallen in love with the region, promised to one day purchase Corryton Park Homestead for his wife, Helen, and their future family. Several years later, that heartfelt promise turned into reality as our family became the proud owners of this picturesque property. Grant dedicated his attention to cultivating the small yet exceptional parcel of vines, while Helen passionately focused on restoring the
estate to its former glory.
Today, Corryton Park thrives as a celebration of its remarkable heritage, blending the timeless charm of its past with the visionary winemaking of the present.
